Le Cheetah C n°342 est connu sous le nom de spotty dns le monde de l'aviation. Il porte une décoration représentant un guépard, Cheetah veut dire Guépard (vous vous étiez toujours demandé pourquoi les sud africains avaient donné un nom de chimpanzé à un avion!?).

Cette décoration a été appliquée pour le 75 ème anniversaire de la SAAF, sur une idée du capitaine S. Thackwray. Elle a fait sensation pensant tous les meeting de la saison 1995. Spotty et deux autres Cheetah C se livraient à des simulacres de combat qui enchantèrent les foules en mettant en valeur l'agilité et la puissance des Cheetah.
